Meg and Will
Meg Cavanaugh and William South first met on the set of Punch Drunk’s immersive show ‘The Drowned Man’ in 2013 doing three sets a night in the strangest noir-fest London’s theatre land had ever seen – a natural home for smokey piano players and honey toned torch singers.
After the show ended they soon embarked on a regular diary of gigs – everything from louche bars and parties in Hackney to gay weddings in Swansea and wild parties in Italy. With a shared love of the Great American Songbook, a tight intuitive music duo grew, with the odd original song getting penned too.
Since then they’re released two albums and collaborated on contemporary dance commissions/performances in between a steady diary of shows. Meg has toured internationally as an actor, vocalist and songwriter with her singer/songwriter background originating in New York City, where she was part of the anti-folk scene in the east village. She has released two solo albums, toured as the female vocalist for Matt Bianco and also has a successful side career as a voice over artist.
William is a composer and musician with global hit records (90 in the Shade’ was a staple of jazz radio round the world and top three in the USA jazz charts) and has had world tours with his bands Heavy Shift and The South Trio among others. He’s also involved in TV/film scoring and, more recently, composing and playing for contemporary dance and ballet.
